Vacancy: Communications & Content Manager (Fixed Term)

We are on the hunt for a creative and culinary-inspired Communications and Content Manager to join a busy team delivering Aotearoa’s largest food and drink festivals.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, you’ll be responsible for leading and executing PR and content plans for our festivals in 2024, as well as managing our social media channels. 

This is a 9 month Fixed Term role (February to October 2024) in a tight-knit organisation that celebrates and supports local businesses to deliver on the mission of making Wellington the Culinary and Craft Beer Capital of New Zealand.

About You

We are looking for an outgoing and tech-savvy media relations maestro who is passionate about food, drink, and storytelling. 

You will genuinely enjoy building strong relationships with our stakeholders and partners, discovering their stories, then turning those stories into engaging PR pitches and social media content that delivers on objectives. 

You will have sound judgement, be solutions-focused, able to work both independently and collaboratively, and be prepared to get your hands dirty to get the job done (i.e. carry boxes on occasion). 

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualities: 

  • At least five to seven years’ experience in a similar role, managing PR & content.

  • A creative and strategic communicator with well-developed written communication skills. 

  • A proven ability to plan, prioritise, coordinate, and execute projects with limited budget and to tight deadlines. 

  • A strong working understanding of the NZ media landscape from TV and print, to digital and social. 

  • A proven ability to build and manage effective working relationships with media, content creators, and external stakeholders and partners. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing effective written content across a range of channels (media releases, press kits, speeches, social posts, blogs, email newsletters, annual reports).

  • Practical experience with social media, eDM, and web content management tools (Meta Business Suite, MailChimp, Dato).

  • A passion for the greater Wellington region and our culinary and craft beer community.

  • The ability to deliver outstanding results and have fun along the way.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Existing relationships with local, national, and international food and travel media would be preferred. 

  • Photography, video production, and/or graphic design experience (including experience with Adobe Creative Suite) would be an advantage. 

  • Agency or multi-brand experience in a commercial business or not-for-profit would be an advantage.
