The winning burger takes inspiration from One80 Restaurant’s Executive Chef Chetan Pangam’s hometown of Goa, and the street food he loves.  The burger features a richly spiced chicken curry, a ‘Ros’ omelette, and a unique bun that represents the ‘Poee’ style bread that the omelette and curry is typically served in. 

It was extremely close amongst the top five which included two newcomers to the competition, Kanama Kopi Kadai in Kilbirnie, and Ernesto's Cocina Cubana in the CBD. With more than 200 burgers in the running, making it to the final five was no mean feat!

The 2023 theme of 'Breaking the Mould' encouraged some creative entries including burgers Respawn's Gamer Fuel which included Ramen noodles and The Green Man's Pie-curious which incorporated a pie! It's been an incredible August Edition for the 2023 Festival, and we're already looking forward to next year.
