7 Wellington Food Trucks worth checking out
Over the years Wellington food trucks have evolved from the traditional fried fare (which could be described as ‘beige’) to all kinds of gourmet delights. Dare we say you can get some of the city’s best eats on the street if you know where to look? Here are a few favourites:
Gorilla Burger Leed Street
Gorilla Burger’s Leed Street location (next to Fortune Favours brew pub) gives you all the food truck vibes with tasty beverages literally next door
EKIM burger started off at the airport end of Lyall Bay back in 2011 and has ended up landing at the top end of Cuba Street
Over the summer season keep an eye out for the Zelati gelato and sorbet truck. Check their socials on where it will pop up next for a sweet summertime treat!
Donnie Taco in the Hannah’s Lane precinct serves up fiery mexican fare (or not so fiery depending on your preference)
The Greek Food Truck - lucky for you they have a few, one is permanently parked outside Moore Wilson, but you’ll also find them on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on Taranaki Street, and Sundays at the Harbourside Markets
Shouk Israeli Food Truck is usually parked up outside the old Amora Hotel (170 Wakefield Street) and already has a loyal following for their fresh Middle Eastern flavours
Rockdogs is a hidden gem which you can find on the way to the tip! Don’t let the location fool you, this truck is renowned for some of the best hotdogs in the capital
Other great Wellington Food Truck spots to get your fix include the Harbourside Markets on Sundays, and just outside Moore Wilson. And, if you’re out at an event keep an eye out for Taco Addicts or Kickflip Pizza.
