Be one of the first in the country to taste the 2023 vintage single vineyard wines from Martinborough's Pinot Noir superstars, Escarpment. From the gravels and windswept terraces of Martinborough, Escarpment has built a devoted following through word of mouth, shared by locals, championed by sommeliers, and remembered long after the last glass. Presented by winemaker Tim Bourne against the wild outlook of Boomrock's coastal position, you'll sample their wines paired with locally sourced wild ingredients including wild boar, Cook Strait snapper, tītī (mutton bird), venison, and Wairarapa cheese. The afternoon opens with Rosé on arrival and canapés of wild boar arancini and ceviche, then moves to a three-course long lunch. Expect leek, tītī, and Mānuka honey pasta with kawa kawa butter; tart cherry venison loin with purple kūmara gratin and Kikorangi Blue; and a Wairarapa cheese course with dark chocolate and blackberry jelly. Each course is matched with Escarpment's range, celebrating the magic of Wairarapa. Your ticket also includes return bus transport.
