Shepherd is bringing one of Auckland's most in-demand chefs down to the capital, just for Welly On a Plate. Seoul-born Jason Kim, who has worked in top Auckland restaurants including Clooney, Cassia, and most recently Sidart, has firmly established himself as one of New Zealand's most exciting chefs.
Now heading up Commercial Bay’s Gochu, Jason will take over the Shepherd kitchen for two nights, serving his elevated classics and new favourites in a celebration of contemporary Korean food.
With plenty of delicious plates to share and a drink on arrival, this is an event you'll want to make space in your schedule for.

Hot for Chicken

Hot for Chicken in BACK! For Visa Wellington On a Plate's opening night event, get Morgan McGlone's Belles Hot Chicken in a three-day-only pop-up at Shepherd Restaurant.

Fingers crossed, Morgan himself might be able to join us this year and we can ditch his cardboard cut out.

Belles Hot Chicken needs some cooling refreshments, so wash it down with local favourites Garage Project and a carefully selected wine list from Shepherd somm Ian Carnegie. Kick off the festival with a night of lip-smackin’ chicken goodness.

Step out of the darkness and into the black circle.

Shepherd is bringing the restaurant out into Hannah’s Laneway for this three-night event to celebrate the night, life, death, wine, and food.

Each night four darkness-focused courses of Shepherd fare will be matched with wines from a different New Zealand biodynamic winemaker, who will join Shepherd to wax lyrical long into the dark night.

Taste of Homies

Shepherd joins forces with Wellington's most loved hand-pulled noodle slingers, Taste of Home. Cocktails will be curated by owner of Romeo's Bar and Deli and former Shepherd bartender, Seb Ninness.

Enjoy a menu of multiple Sichuan street-food focussed dishes designed to share, refreshing cocktails, and natural wine, this event is one for the homies. After dinner, the bar area transforms into a nightclub featuring DJs handpicked by the Romeo's crew. Bring your friends, enjoy a drink on arrival, come for the food, stay for a boogie.
