We’ve done the mahi and have found some fantastic restaurants that are open on Mondays and, to be honest, we can’t think of a better way to kick off the week!

• Boulcott Street Bistro - this legendary bistro in a historic villa has been going strong since 1991 and does not disappoint. Think impeccable food paired with smart service - we recommend you book!

• Pravda - ‘Wellington famous’ for their cheese scones, this long standing all day eatery serves up from sunrise. After sunset you can settle in for dinner and drinks

• Charley Noble - Charley Noble has been charming diners for more than a decade with slick service and top notch woodfired eats, set in a gorgeous historic building right by the waterfront

• Floriditas - this award-winning Cuba Street stalwart does solid business throughout the week, and you’ll often see Wellington’s hospo community in on Mondays

• Two Grey - offers chic all day dining featuring seasonal local produce,  you’ll find it next to the InterContinental Hotel in the heart of the CBD

• Everybody Eats - On a budget? Pay as you feel for a three course meal. You’ll be dining on rescued food from Kaibosh, and every dollar you donate goes towards supporting this fantastic charity organisation

• Jardin Grill - the beautiful copper kitchen is the focal point for this eatery conveniently set within the stunning Sofitel, and is nice and close to the Botanic Garden

• The Ram - put together by the team at legendary sandwich spot Fred’s, this Cuba Street spot already has a loyal following, walk-ins only so be sure to get there early!

• One80 - this hidden gem has one of the best views in town! You’ll find it just off Oriental Parade at the top of the Copthorne Hotel, and they won Burger Wellington 2023!

• Ernesto's Cocina Cubana - brings Latin American flair to the CBD, pop in for coffee or an after work cocktail

• Astoria - if Italian fare is your thing, this is the space for you! around their dramatic central bar, plus their pizzetas are a must

• Kisa - lap up the gorgeous Mediterranean food and vibes at this cool Cuba Street eatery that has been bustling since it opened

• Mr Go’s - Modern Asian in a modern setting, Mr Go’s serves up slick food with style. Make sure you check out their cute cocktail ‘glassware’

• The Hudson - tucked away on Chews Lane, The Hudson offers something for everyone. It’s popular for after work dinner and drinks, plus they do a pretty good Saturday brunch with Mimosas and more

• Portlander - this popular steakhouse is a local favourite for meat lovers, you’ll find it at the Rydges Hotel 

• Shed 5 - if you enjoy dining with a water view, this is the place to be! You’ll get big maritime vibes in this eatery housed within one of Wellington’s historic ‘sheds’ right on the wharf

• Caucus - whether you’re in Wellington for business or pleasure, you can’t avoid references to government, and Caucus is located in the Novotel right in the heart of the business district

• Juniper isn’t just a gin bar, it’s a full service restaurant that opens its doors every Monday on Johnston Street
