Kāpiti Ice Cream and Good Fortune are pairing up to serve you a match made in heaven... affogatos served up in a special edible cookie cup. At the 'Affogato Caravan' you can indulge in Kāpiti Ice Cream’s Marlborough Salted Caramel, Vanilla Bean, and Affogato flavours, paired with Good Fortune’s Firecracker coffee, decaf or hot chocolate. A perfect winter dessert!

• Friday 2 August - Kumutoto Precinct, 46 Lady Elizabeth Lane (by the Kina sculpture on the waterfront), 4pm-8pm

• Sunday 11 August - Harbourside Market, 7am - 1pm

Who can take a sunrise, sprinkle it with dew, cover it with chocolate and a miracle or two? Beach Babylon can! Join the Beach Babylon team on a fantastical journey to 'The World of Welly Wonka'. Expect bespoke food and drinks with a whimsical nod to the Roald Dahl classic. As always, the venue will be decked out with sweet inspired decor for a full sugar immersion.

Sweet, sweet Burger Wellington

Check out these three venues taking the sweet approach to Burger Wellington this year.

• Sweet burg veterans The Library are once again serving up an ice cream burger for the bold. 'The Jenga Jelly Tip' is a creative concoction of raspberry, dark chocolate and vanilla Jelly Tip Jenga blocks served with a rum not-raisin sauce in a Dough Bakery brioche bun. Stack your own jenga pieces and see how high you can go! ($27)

• If you're not a regular visitor to Porirua then here's a reason to change that! Regular Cafe are serving up a burger dream in the form of their 'Caramelo Gelato Cream' , a Kaffee Eis chocolate gelato patty in a sweet brioche bun. ($15)

• Treat your desires with Le Ciel Bakery's 'Forbidden Fantasy', a sage gelee filled mushroom gelato patty with passionfruit leather, chipotle chocolate sauce, and a whipped cream 'mayonnaise' in a housemade, caramel filled activated charcoal brioche bun. ($22)

Ticketed events that take the cake

• Is it Cake? Cocktail Edition (10 & 25 August, $65) - The question that has been plaguing us since the dawn of time (or maybe just since the evolution of baking 'gram): is it cake? The Library are here to help answer the conundrum with the mind-bending event – cocktails that taste like cakes and cakes inspired by cocktails.

• Sweet Street (various dates throughout August, $99) - Eva St has been transformed into a chocolate-lover's paradise! Start off your laneway exploration at the Wellington Chocolate Factory where you’ll learn about craft chocolate and make your own chocolate bars. From there you can dine on chocolate Calzone at Pizza Pomodoro, and drink chocolate-inspired drinks at both Fortune Favours and Hanging Ditch. If you love chocolate, laneways, or Wellington – this one’s for you!

• Chocolate Indulgence (29 August, $255) - Celebrated as a food of the Gods, explore chocolate's 4,000 year old history and dive in to why it's still loved across the globe today! Join Elle Crocker, head judge for the New Zealand Chocolate Awards, and the team at Noble Rot for a taste of indulgence in this five-course degustation menu where chocolate is the hero. Inspire your senses and celebrate chocolate in its many forms and flavours. All courses artistically paired with wines which champion chocolate as a worthy dinner companion.
