From 1–31 August 2025, experience the finest (and funnest) of dining during Visa Wellington on a Plate. From multi-course heritage explorations to interactive kai workshops; from film and music-themed events to marriages of food and technology, there’s an event for everyone! Attend unmissable cooking collaborations, show-stopping showcases, pop-up events, and experience the broadening boundaries of food.
From 4–24 August 2025 between the culinary-chaos of VWOAP, comes Burger Wellington. A well-loved capital city event, Burger Wellington takes the city by the belly each year. This year there are 200+ unique burgers, catering to various dietary requirements (and salivatory needs) so you’ll never fall short of an option! With playfully crafty Double Vision Brewery beer matches, you’ll have no chance but to leave full and satisfied.

As always we have a theme to set the tone, and we can’t think of anything more appropriate than love this year. Therefore, our theme for 2025 is:
Food is Love.
The fuel that keeps us going, the centre of celebrations, a trip down memory lane, or a romantic adventure; food and love go hand in hand. Dishes are handed down through generations, through our treasured recipe books that have the same heirloom status as photo albums; Even the memorable meals you’ve had because of a genuine connection with the waitstaff or your table mates. This year, venues across the Greater Wellington Region will be showing you what love means to them. Each dish, burger, and event has a story to tell—and it's your turn to hear it!
'Food is Love' was chosen as our way of giving Wellington a well deserved hug. We look forward to August being one big love letter to Wellington and the incredible people that inhabit it.
