Next Gen Cook Off is back for its third year! Enjoy a pay-as-you-feel three-course dinner using perfectly good food that would otherwise have gone to waste, prepared by a different up-and-coming Wellington chef each night. Diners and a panel of judges will assess the meals and crown one chef as a winner. Next Gen Cook Off is supported by Pure South.
Mon 5 Aug - Lewis Heath, Graze Lewis has been a part of the Graze team since before it was born. Frequently volunteering at Everybody Eats, he loves helping with any task small or big. As the sous chef at Graze, he’s mastered the art of baking, making everything from pretzels to sourdough, and he’s got a great sense for flavour!
Mon 12 Aug - Chandrika Khullar, Floriditas Chanz hails from New Delhi but moved to Aotearoa in 2014 to train as a chef and hasn’t looked back. She spent a lot of her career under the tutelage of Julie Clark & Hayden McMillan at Floriditas, and she now co-heads Loretta. Chanz is all about utilising all the food and not wasting anything.
Mon 19 Aug - Byron Bunny, Neo Cafe Byron started his career as a kitchen hand and moved his way up by learning and being inspired by other chefs around him. He is now the chef de partie at Neo Cafe & Eatery. He has a strong passion for food and the sustainability around its sovereignty and use. He is excited to be part of the Next Gen Cook Off and share his cuisine with the Pōneke community.
Mon 26 Aug - Aoife Gallagher-Forbes, Concord Bistro Aoife is a chef at Concord Bistro and Bar. After studying law for two years, she got a job washing dishes and, long story short, bookmarked the degree and has now been a chef for nearly four years. Outside of work, she’s an alright footballer and has played nationally for the better part of a decade.
