Tohu Whenua Single Vineyard wines at Hiakai Hāngī
July 10, 2019
Visa Wellington On a Plate is proud to partner with local brands, producers and suppliers across our events and at this years’ Hiakai Hāngī, we’re celebrating the release of the new Tohu Whenua Single Vineyard wines. This new wine series for Tohu represents the next step for the Marlborough-based wine brand. The roots of the vines have grown deeper into the earth over the last twenty years, and so too has their understanding of the land. The Whenua Series is a result of this connection: there are 8 single vineyard varietals in the series, from two vineyards: Whenua Matua sitting amongst the sun- drenched slopes of upper Moutere in Nelson, and Whenua Awa vineyard high on the remote terraces of the upper Awatere Valley, Marlborough.

The Tohu Whenua range will be showcased at this year’s Hiakai Hāngī, taking place on August 18 at Shelly Bay. This key Visa WOAP Festival Event sees a new international team of amazing chefs coming to Wellington to join Monique Fiso around the hāngi pit in a celebration of Polynesian culture and culinary traditions passed down through generations. Four courses of slow-cooked kai, accompanied by Tohu Whenua Single Vineyard wines and entertainment will be served up at dusk overlooking the Wellington harbour.
