Five reasons to head to The Sea Breeze Inn
July 28, 2022

We’re winding up to the beginning of Visa Wellington On a Plate which kicks off a full culinary calendar of festival fun! We have more than 120 events and pop ups, 70 Dine Wellington dishes, 80 Cocktail Wellington tipples presented by Tommy’s and an epic 200 entrants in Garage Project presents Burger Wellington!
So, why do you need to get yourself down to the opening The Sea Breeze Inn pop-up restaurant? Here are five solid reasons to breeze on through!
1/ Get up close and personal with your favourite chefs
We’ve called on some of our festival friends and chefs to lend a hand. Morgan McGlone of Sunday Potts Point in Sydney, who is the mastermind behind the concept (and you might recall the Hot For Chicken pop up!) , Karena and Kasey Bird of Masterchef fame, Otis Shapiro of Lilian and Schapiro’s in Auckland, Martin Bosley of Yellow Brick Road, plus a few other guests including Shaun Clouston of Logan Brown, Liberty and Bellamys by Logan Brown alongside Carl Maunder of the Intercontinental Wellington.
2/ Get to know our Kaimoana
New Zealand has hundreds of fish species in and around our waters, so there’s plenty for people to explore. We’ve been working alongside the Seafood New Zealand team on highlighting sustainably caught fish species and tell a provenance story, so that people know when, where and by whom that fish was caught, creating a deeper connection between ourselves and what we eat.
3/ Get a ‘byte’ of NewFish
Ever wondered what a vegan friendly fish alternative might look like? Now’s your chance with this incredible ‘fish-like’ protein made from micro-algae by New Fish. Will this be the future of fish? Come along and decide for yourself!
4/ Chow down on seafood classics
Cloudy Bay Clam Chowder, Creamed Pāua on toast, Vol-au-Vent Seafood Royal, Corncakes with Crayfish and Old Bay, Fish ‘n Chips and more! Come along and fulfill your seafood fantasies… Check out the full menu here.
5/ Have a generally good time all round!
As well as all the delicious kaimoana on offer we have Garage Project bringing the beer, Matahiwi on the wine and the Almighty range of non-alcoholic sodas to keep you suitably refreshed. And a sweet soundtrack, keeping things easy and breezy all night long!
Join us at The Sea Breeze Inn Friday 29 - Sunday 31 July from 4pm till late at 6 College St! This is not a ticketed event (free entry, pay on consumption – no cash, only debit/credit card, tap & go), you just need to grab your friends or fam and roll on up!
