Visa Wellington On a Plate Guide to Porirua for 2022

May 31, 2022

Porirua. Famous for sports heroes with hairdos like Jerry Collins, New Zealand’s favourite chocolate maker, Whittaker’s, and for the month of August it is bursting with burgers, bikes fixing with beers and a spot of culture.  Did we mention it's also the hometown of 2022 Cuisine Magazine Chef of the Year Monique Fiso? So go on, get out and explore the culinary delights the city has to offer.

Festival Events

For one night only the Pātaka Art + Museum is putting on a feast for your senses! Combine some of New Zealand’s foremost indigenous contemporary art with the very best local culinary offerings. Porirua’s most creative chefs will delight you with their wide range of bite-sized dishes accompanied by craft beer, specialty vodka and locally brewed kombucha. Check out the best tasty artisan treats at this unique event.

If you like to get out and about by bike, we recommend heading to Get Fixed for an evening all about the three ‘B’s - bikes, burgers and brews.  Learn how to repair your bike and maintain it to keep it in tip top shape, then tuck into some burgers and beers while Simon will answer all your bike-related questions.

Garage Project presents Burger Wellington

For the Burger Welly fans there’s more than enough to whet your appetite.

Flavours and textures are celebrated with Whitby Co-op Kitchen & Bar’s Snap Crackle Pop burger.  Dive into crispy pork belly with green apple and rainbow cabbage slaw, aged cheddar mayonnaise, bark beer and apple and wholegrain mustard relish…

Cocktail Wellington presented by Tommy's
