Visa Wellington On a Plate 2020 is GO!!!

In a year that has been very stop/go, we’re extremely proud to say Visa Wellington On a Plate is GO!!
Take a seat and get ready to Eat, Drink and Be Welly this October! Because we’ve just flicked the culinary switch, and the Visa Wellington On a Plate 2020 festival programme is (finally) LIVE!
So you can start planning your culinary adventures for this coming October at VisaWOAP.com; with hundreds of creative Cocktail Wellingtons, Garage Project presents Burger Wellington, Festival Dishes and unique Festival Events, it’s going to be the most delicious month the Greater Wellington Region has to offer.
Of course, just like any year (but especially in this year), there are a few updates and new bits and pieces we want to make sure you’re all over so you can plan, and have the best Festival experience!
Here is what you need to know to get the most out of the best month of the year:
This year’s Festival dates
For the second year, Visa Wellington On a Plate is a whole month long, which leaves you plenty of time to try out all the places your palate may desire for Dine, Burger, Cocktail and events!
Visa Wellington On a Plate dates are:
- 1-11 October: Dine Wellington - lovingly crafted courses of dining delight, including the Festival Dish, the ultimate showcase of the best local produce and chef talent
- 12-31 October: Garage Project presents Burger Wellington - burgers burgers burgers .. will we ever reach peak burger? Do we want to?
- 1-31 October: Cocktail Wellington - creative cocktails with culinary flair. Even the drinks are about the food!
- 1-31 October: Festival Events - from hyper-local chef collaborations to pop ups, masterclasses, music and dance events, there’s a seat (or dancefloor) for everyone!
The Festival Theme - Common Ground
“Food is our common ground, our universal experience.” - James Beard, famed American Chef.
Food has always been the common ground that connects cultures and generations. It’s a great way to learn about others, different cuisines, cultures, countries and different ways of life. Many great Visa WOAP events have brought together people from all walks of life, who, through sharing food walk away as lifelong friends.
We’ve used this inspiration to create the ideal Visa Welly On a Plate dinner party for this year’s Festival campaign. And just like the Festival, it’s colourful and lively, full of great conversation and delicious (and perhaps unexpected) food and drink.
This October we invite you to take a seat and join the culinary adventures of Visa Wellington On a Plate.
Festival tickets - sale dates
Every year, hundreds of foodies find new loves at Visa Welly On a Plate Festival Events, and this year won’t be any different. Check out the incredible events planned for 2020 and pop these tickets on sale dates in your diary, so you don’t miss out!
- Visa pre-sale for Visa cardholders (debit and credit) will start from midday Monday, 31 August through to midnight Wednesday, 2 September
- General tickets on sale from midday Monday, 7 September.
Fancy new website stuff (this is exciting)
Maps, maps, maps!!
You asked - and we’ve delivered! This year we’re very excited to finally have... a Festival map! Four to be exact - one each for Dine, Garage Project presents Burger Wellington, Cocktail Wellington and Festival Events to help you find what’s what, what’s on plan your strat and where to find it, so you can get you and your crew there!
Print your own guide
While we couldn’t produce the usual guide this year (ref: global pandemic), we’ve upgraded our ‘print from website functionality’ so you can download and plan to your heart’s desire.
We know many of you like to get busy with a highlighter, and plan out your festival strat, so we’ve given you the functionality to print all the Festival listings or you can use the filters to create your own personalised Festival experience! Isn’t that exciting?! In case you can’t tell, we are very excited about this.
Wishlists and sharing with friends
You’ll see a love heart icon on each of the Festival listings - check this to add that item to your wishlist. Or create many different lists (e.g. date nights, burger attack 2020, etc.). You don’t even need to login to create your wishlist. Easy as!
However, if you want to share lists with friends, create a login by choosing a username and password. Please note if you’ve had a login using an email in previous years, you’ll need to create a new one this year.
Festival FAQs
Some of you might be feeling nervous about a certain global pandemic. The good news is Visa Welly On a Plate can happen at Level 2, Level 1 and no levels at all (the best kind of level)! We’re staying optimistic and will, of course, keep you updated with any changes.
