The day begins with a tour of the Conscious Valley Barn, where Hamish, the passionate owner behind Conscious Valley Farm, will guide you through the sheep shearing process, offering insight into his sustainable farming practices. Afterward, head to the picturesque Ohariu Farm venue for a welcome glass of bubbly, followed by a delectable three-course menu that celebrates the land’s bounty. With snacks to start, sourdough bread, macarons, and expertly paired wines or non-alcoholic beverages, the menu highlights locally raised lamb and spear-caught butterfish sourced from the nearby coast.
Throughout the meal, you’ll learn about the inspiration behind the dishes, with chefs explaining how the surrounding flora and fauna shape their culinary creations. Cole and Tom, the dynamic duo behind Strait Speared, will also share their secrets on catching the finest butterfish, while you enjoy your starter.
