The Boil Up

CC
cannot cater to dietary requirements
Join Josh Hunter from Whakapapa of your Kai for a special evening as we share a beloved Aotearoa tradition – the Boil Up. A common and comforting kai in many Māori households, the Boil Up is a hearty stew, rich with root vegetables, tender smoked pork bones, ham hock dough boys , and nourishing pūhā. To complete this classic meal, he'll be serving a warm, comforting steam pudding for dessert with charcoal custard and black Dorris plums This kaupapa represents something Josh deeply believes in: providing for many and creating access to nourishing food from the heart. It’s kai born from resourcefulness, designed to feed whānau and community. This event is koha-based, honouring the principle of reciprocity and ensuring everyone can be a part of our table. Nau mai, haere mai – come, gather, and eat with us.

A feast with purpose, where every bowl makes a difference. Celebrate the final day of Visa Wellington On a Plate and the end of winter with the ultimate comfort food: mac 'n' cheese, served all day long. Two of Wellington’s legendary food rescue and community dining champions, Everybody Eats and Kaibosh, are joining forces to serve piping hot mac 'n' cheese, raising funds to help feed the community. As official charity partners of the festival, they are turning comfort food into real impact. For just $10, each bowl will help fund a three-course meal for someone in need through Everybody Eats or provide a day’s worth of food for a family via Kaibosh. Customise your mac with a range of toppings and flavours, all made from rescued food, showcasing just how delicious food recovery can be. In the lead-up to the event, Everybody Eats and Kaibosh will be calling on their social media followers to share their favourite mac 'n' cheese combos, with the top picks featured on the day. Diners can enjoy their meal seated in the Everybody Eats restaurant or opt for takeaway to share with the whānau or flat. The goal is to serve 2,000 bowls and fund 2,000 meals for the community. Join the celebration, enjoy incredible kai and help make a real difference.
