No more Airs and Graces. Turning on its head the idea of French cuisine as fine-dining fodder, Hippopotamus plays host to Chef Sean Connolly of Esther for a night of relaxed feasting and a familial menu to share.
Connolly’s approach to Mediterranean cuisine sees flavours and spices from Sicily to the South of France and as far as Morocco executed with exacting simplicity. By contrast, Hippopotamus’ French fine dining has earned it two Cuisine Hats and a reputation as an iconic Wellington institution for celebrations and silverware.
We’re breaking the mould of 13 years of fine hospitality by breaking bread Esther-style. Enjoy Connolly’s relaxed feasting menu accompanied by fine wines from Hippopotamus Head Sommelier, Florent Souche. Expect a feasting menu served family-style of Connolly's best dishes from Esther created in collaboration with Esther Executive Chef, James Laird. Think puff bread with taramasalata, octopus malfadine, coastal lamb rack, and rum baba to finish.
