And here it is – the moment you’ve been waiting for... Congratulations to the 2025 Burger Wellington champion: Āhuru Kai Kōhua Poaka from Te Papa Café!
Āhuru Kai Kōhua Poaka, meaning the comforting warmth you feel eating a pork boil-up, was inspired by this Māori food tradition. The boil-up is a dish of love, traditionally made in big pots for whānau and friends; it brings people together. Te Papa wanted to capture the essence of this traditional Māori meal and give it a gourmet twist.
2nd place: Laksa Lover's Affair from Macha, Jom Tapau!
3rd place: Gran's Table from Sushil's Musclechef Kitchen and Café.
In first place, Te Papa Café wins a custom brew with Double Vision Brewing & $700 stock, $500 Gilmours credit & free entry into next year's competition!
In second place, Macha, Jom Tapau! wins $200 Double Vision Brewing stock & $300 Gilmours credit.
In third place, Sushil's Musclechef Kitchen and Café wins $100 Double Vision Brewing stock & $200 Gilmours credit.

From 1 - 31 August 2025, you experienced the finest (and funnest) of dining during Visa Wellington On a Plate. From multi-course heritage explorations to interactive kai workshops; from film and music-themed events to marriages of food and technology, there was an event for everyone!
From 4 - 24 August 2025 between the culinary-chaos of VWOAP, came Burger Wellington. A well-loved capital city event, Burger Wellington took the city by the belly as it does year after year. This year there were 200+ unique burgers, that catered to various dietary requirements (and salivatory needs)! With playfully crafty Double Vision Brewery beer matches, the whole city was left full and satisfied.
